What is coaching?
Coaching focuses on helping clients create a fulfilled and balanced life. Working together in partnership, coaches and clients identify goals and work to clear obstacles. In coaching sessions clients identify core values and beliefs, determine a life mission and clarify a future vision.
The focus of coaching work may be personal growth, relationships, career, health, and parenting. In coaching, clients drive the process and are accountable for completing specific actions to realize their goals.
How Does Coaching Differ From Therapy?
While traditional psychotherapy focuses on the past, coaching looks at the present and the future. Therapy asks, “why” and coaching asks, “how”. Therapy is oriented in process and coaching is oriented in action and outcome.
Coaching is done in person, on the phone, or both. Sessions are either 30 or 60 minutes, and can also include hypnotherapy or EFT (tapping). Coaching sessions are not covered by health insurance but may be eligible for reimbursement from a health savings account.
